Highlights from classes, March through May 2023.

An eight-week course designed for students with no prior experience in computer science. Our group of sixteen — ten high school sophomores, four juniors, one senior, and a college senior majoring in Information Engineering — set out to discover whether technology was for them. Most found out it was.

Guest speakers

Industry professionals joined throughout the course to share their paths and ground the material in real-world context. We're grateful to every one of them.

Course structure

Segment 1 — Android application modification

  • Modified the TensorFlow Lite Pose Estimation Android demo
  • Skills: programming, machine learning, mobile app development
  • Outcome: an AI-powered Android pose classifier using MoveNet and TensorFlow Lite

Segment 2 — Cloud-based Android system development

  • Developed Android systems on Google Cloud Platform
  • Skills: virtual machines, building and modifying Android systems, cloud development
